front cover

Another little zine is ready for a trip into the world outside my studio, (a few have escaped already). It will be the "Prize" for the first 5 commentators if they don't already have it and would like one. Here is the plan sent to me by my good friend Helen Anderson. I won't publish any more of the 8 page zine so it will be a surprise for you (it is not as scarey as the cover might suggest).

Step 1
Copy&Paste this (see below) as your latest entry on your favourite social website (in your case it would be on your blog)

* Pay It Forward Art-making Project for 2014 *

I promise to make a small work of art for the first five people who comment on this post and say "YES, I want in". A 'like' alone is not enough of a commitment, nor is a comment about thinking Pay It Forward is a great idea.

You must in turn post this as your status update and make something for the first five who comment on your status.

The rules are simple:
– It has to be your work, made by you, and the recipient must receive it before 2014 ends.
– It can be anything art-based: a drawing/illustration or a conceptual work of art, a photograph, a knitted item, cross-stitch, paper maché – or anything in between.

I'm paying this forward thanks to Helen Anderson. Yes, you can be on each other's pay it forward lists.

First five, GO!

PS. It doesn't matter if you aren't an artist, try something out, google/ YouTube how to make stuff, step out of those boundaries.

Step 2For the first five people who comment on your blog entry saying they want to participate, you will do an art trade with them that must be completed by December 31st 2014. I would count as the first person so technically you only need another four. If you find your friends are keen you can do as many as you want.

Step 3All forms of art count including creative writing , photography, digital anything goes!

If you have any more qustions, just email me and let me know

Yes I want in please. I took part in a similar trade a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. I'll put my blog post up later in the week

Count me in! I'm not at all obedient, so you know I am doing this because I like the idea. And your zines -always.

Will probably post tomorrow though, is that ok?

No problems Ersi, thanks for the response. Looking forward to your work in return. Hope the shop is thumping along!

Jack, I can't believe this. I just found your zine in my mail box! How could it come from Australia to Spain in just one day? It goes to show that your zines are amazing.

I love it, thank you!

My zine was very disobedient and escaped early.

I've come to your blog via the Personal Histories blog.
I would like one of your zines please. It will the first time I have one in my hands! India is not into the zine scene as far as I can see. I'd like to be a part of this pay it forward thing and maybe I'll finally get down to making a zine myself.
Will do a post about paying it forward a little later in the week.

Hello Maya, Tracey and Marji send me your postal address to and I'll pop a zine in the mail for you. Lovely to see you're still around Tracey. And lucky for me I went back to the old blog today to check. I don't often go backwards.
