It is always exciting when you complete something quite different to anything you've ever done before. Particularly when you had no idea where to start or even which materials would work. I find this sort of aesthetic problem solving works best if approached slowly and done little by little over an extended period to let ideas infuse from the pages.
I have just recently "finished" this little book made by Trace Willans of papers, wax and resins. In this different collaboration, Trace sends me the "blank" book , which has juicy pages stained with natural materials and waxed in abstract surfaces and I interact with the pages with a variety of materials.
To give you some idea of the scale, this little book is only 6.5 x 8 cms closed. I hope you enjoy some of the images inside.

Wow Jack, I'm just catching up with the previous post too. It's great to see you've been experimenting with different approaches and the work looks wonderful. Love the collaborative piece between you and Trace.
what a lovely book!
Experimenting and exploring, will I ever find what I'm looking for?
Brilliant!
Ooh lovely and rich! Very earthy and Australian in appearance (despite the French text).
Thanks Anna and Amanda. I never thought of my work feeling "Australian" in appearance but I think you're right, the stains Trace uses do have a almost indigenous feel about them.
intriguing work Jack.
Oh, I do love this!
so glad you find the work interesting and intriguing. I hope Trace agrees.
I am blown away with how creative and wonderful your little book turned out.
Thank you Donna, your mixed media work is also pretty special.
J'ADORE!

I do agree, I think it is absolutely delicious. Love it.
I'm sooo glad Trace! Makes it all worth while. Must get back to some more exploring and drawing.
