memories

An old abandoned Ford truck gave me a chance to stop, look and think about things of my boyhood and how, now these surfaces and colours appeal to me in a different way.

Someone recently asked me, what do I do with these photos. Well what can I say, except perhaps that I stopped for a moment, looked, and wanted the keep that memory alive somehow.

What will I "use" these images for? What work will I make from my contemplations? Who knows? Or when even? Sometimes it's enough just to take a back seat and fill my head with beautiful stuff. It's just great to let these lovely stimuli wash over me and not think about -the result!.

I find the visual textures are beautiful in themselves and they don't need to go anywhere else for the time being. I hope they do something for you too.

Mt Clunie from a knoll walk

We have just returned home from a very peaceful and beautiful stay at the Mt Clunie Cabins near Woodenbong. Jim and Fran, a very generous, gentle couple, run this low impact, very natural little business with 2 huts surrounded by National Parks, rainforests and almost deafening bird calls.

Although I have always been interested in birds in a fairly general way, I could easily become a more serious twitcher especially after Jim lent me his fantastic binoculars. The cabin is stocked with bird identification books and magazines to help me work out what I was seeing. Think I still need a lot of help in this area.

As usual, I spent a lot of time with my art work while Jenny got a lot of her needlework done. So we didn't really get stuck into exploring all of the rainforest tracks on the property which adjoins World Heritage National parks but managed a few of the shorter ones. Mt Clunie National Park is closed to vehicles and must be one of the most quiet parks around. We didn't meet a soul! How special is that?

We will definitely be back to visit this awesome spot and its wonderful owners.-  I forgot to mention the stars and ......the rather quaint gas lights in the cabins. (No power = no TV, radio  but a lovely log fire as it was quite cold)

...............and all the beautiful rusty farm bits which I'll post later. Now that I'm mentally refreshed, I can get back to all the other things on my ever growing LIST. My problem is getting sidetracked and losing myself in my art. Not always a bad thing, especially for me.
