stone cloud

stone cloud

While I was working on my small books today, looking through my papers and materials I came upon a little experimental painting with egg tempera on ply I'd done a while ago. My passport ID number and an unknown (only to me) braille message seem to feel comfortable together. You can find out a bit more about this work in my Etsy store http://www.etsy.com/listing/92960544/a-small-original-signed-mixed-media
I've been trying to follow the binding instructions by Keith Smith for one of my books and feel useless and all thumbs but am determined to finally master it. Next stage will be to have a go at coptic binding, the instructions for which look formidable and very mathematical, not good for me as that side of my brain seems deficient.

"CODE" on the road

Doing a lot of driving today reminded me of some photos of little messages I'd recorded a while ago.
I've always wondered what these little coded messages mean but thought they might come in handy
in the collage of my artwork.

I feel sure the codes will be added to some of the many codes that appear in my work even though I haven't a clue what they mean. They have a certain design quality and mystery which is intriguing and could become the start of a investigation into another "little book."

Mind in Art

Mind in Art started in 2001 when a group of aspiring artists got in touch with me to start an art group. All of this group share a common determination to recover from various forms of mental illness. They continue to find the group valuable to each other in its shared support, non-judgmental attitudes and social reintegration. The valuable lessons in the various art media we offer are a bonus. We work in the areas of painting, printmaking and drawing in three hour workshops at the Wellington Point Community Art Precinct. The group is supported by Connect 2 Group Inc. and we have exhibitions and work in community arts projects.

These paintings are some of our early work done in 2004 . Some of our artists are no longer with us now but their paintings are still fresh in our memory. I will add more information about the work and put other work up from time to time, especially if we have more rainy days like today.
